Third-Party PMFB UtilitiesThere are a number of third-party utilities available to make your job as a coach, commissioner or game runner easier. If you're a PC coach, sorry, I can't help you (but Jason Barden and Roger Carey can - see their sites for information about Statracker and Scout Pro for the PC). All these applications have been written for the Macintosh (to the best of my knowledge these will all work on machines from 68000 up ... if they don't, drop me a line). Most are freeware. Download them and use them at no charge. A few are shareware, with the author asking only a few shekels in return. All come highly recommended. PMFB Win2Mac:Got a playbook from a PC coach that you need to run on your Mac? Well, you can manually change the creator code and file type with ResEdit or File Buddy or HexEdit ... or you can just drop the .fpb file on this utility. Freeware. [Macintosh only] Programmer: Brian Brinkmann Statsmaker:Statsmaker is an individual game stat creation utility that will generate a printout of the score by quarters, as well as limited team statistics, the offenses and defenses called on each scoring play AND, most importantly, individual player stats. Not the most accurate stats, but more than adequate for game reports. Freeware. [Macintosh only] Programmer: Naoki Miura DM Transcript Tool:A great utility for pulling game statistics and excerpts of critical points (TDs, FGs, fumbles and interceptions) from transcripts for use when writing game stories. The perfect addition to stats from Statsmaker. Freeware. [Macintosh only] Programmer: Roger Carey Sniffer:Mandatory utility for all WFL game runners. Sniffer checks playbooks for violations of a number of types and MUST be run on all playbooks before games are run. For instructions on its use in the WFL, see the WFL Manual online. Freeware. [Macintosh only] Programmer: Jon Christie Other Useful ApplicationsOther useful applications for use with Brian Brinkmann's Playmaker Football can be found at Rick Prescott's GFL site. Included in this collection are Prescott's own transcript analyzers. The best (bar none) shareware stats program for generating team statistics and individual player stats can be downloaded from Jason Barden's Statracker site. If you're running a PMFB league or just want to create season-long and multiple-season stats for a team, the shareware fee on this one is money well spent. You won't find a better analyzer. And now it's available for Windows users, too. [For Macintosh and PC] Scout Pro is a program that, as programmer Roger Carey puts it "reads transcript files and give you the information on play performance and play calling you need to help you prepare a winning playbook against your next opponent. It's fast, easy to use, and makes reports in three levels of detail." He's 100 percent on the mark. I wouldn't know how to prep without it. An indispensable application for anyone in a league, it can be downloaded from his ftp site. The program has been recently updated and now is optimized for use on the Mac PowerPC, and it's also been ported over so PC users can have access to it. [For Macintosh and PC] And check out the Third Party Utilities page at Playmaker's web site for things like AI Governor (a bit cryptic until you get the hang of it, but a great way to manage AI on an entire playbook WITHOUT having to open every single play) and PFMB StatMunger (which handles standings and records for league commissioners).
